This….. is a diary, a notepad, a record of what it’s like to find out you have a brain tumour; specifically a grade 2 oligodendroglioma. It’s a place to put my thoughts, to try and make sense of what is happening. It will therefore be massively self indulgent and me me me. I don’t expect anyone to read it, but if you found this because you’re on a similar journey, please do say hello.
I’m Ruth, a 44 year old woman living in Newcastle on Tyne, in the North East of England. I live with my husband A, and our two kids, 13 year old E and 9 year old L. My aim is to stick around for them as long as humanly possible.
Why ‘not today, Satan?’ These are the immortal words of Bianca Del Rio, the wittiest, driest and quickest contestant on season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She was referring to fellow (lesser) contestant Courtney Act’s bitchy suggestion she try a different look. Bianca’s words came to mind each time I didn’t die. One day you’ll get me, but not today Satan, not today.
